Progress!!!

Alright, alright, alright, alright… Abraham Lincoln said that. At least once, I’m sure. Anyway, I made it passed the introductory talky videos on the Proko Basics course. The reward for that was I got me a drawing of a pear! I should probably draw another one. Not for the practice and to improve but to make the very simple joke of having a pair of pear drawings. But that’s low hanging fruit and has no place on such a finely written blog such as this.

It’s not the best drawing but it’s also not completely horrible. The project was to simplify the shapes, the values and the edges. I was supposed to only use 5 values, 2 darks and 3 lights. The edges were all supposed to be hard edges. I think my edges are mostly hard but I don’t think I have exactly 5 values on that pear. More like 6. Maybe 7. I do plan to attempt the project again and see what happens. Then I’ll proceed with the course and see where it takes me.

I’m definitely getting into drawing more. Where I find myself wanting to draw. Where as before, I’d really get anxious about drawing and avoid it and then regret it. So, I’m making progress and that’s part of getting somewhere. I think as long as I stay consistent and draw every day, before I know it, I’ll be miles away from where I am today. That is a very motivating thought.

Stuck... Stuck... Stuck...

     It’s funny that I don’t know how to start writing a blog because I never know how to start anything and then I don’t start anything. Which is probably the reason I’m stuck. They say just start. I’d like to meet they someday. They sound so wise and learned. Anyway, don’t over think it and just start. So here I am starting and not trying to overthink it… Too much.      Here’s the short version. I’ve just turned 44. I got laid off a month and a half ago. I’m at home, helping to take care of my father. I’ve never done anything worthwhile because I’m too afraid of “getting it wrong” and now nothing is right. I’m full of the anxiety, self-doubt and caffeine. And 12 Makes a Dozen

This is my twelfth post. That’s like twelve more than I’ve ever done before. Sure, some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am. Bigger and stronger too. But none of them will love writing this blog the way I do. It’s me and you. Since Disney is so litigious, I would like to say that I have no idea who a “Toy Story” is or what a Randy Newman be. Regardless, I’m still plugging away at drawing and game making. I’m pretty happy that my boxes aren’t as awful as they could be for starting up drawing after a such long time. I can’t remember if I’ve brought this up before and I’m obviously too lazy to look at my previous posts. Don’t want to skew the metrics.
